Mr. Lambourne is a gifted writer and his recounting of the Mormon pioneers as the made their way westward to the the verdant Salt Lake valley I found captivating. Hardships were not glossed over. The pencil/charcoal drawings are strategically placed throughout the narrative. My one surprise wand disappointment was that the author did not speak more openly about the religious faith and dedication of these dedicated pioneers.

My Great Grandfather.
Feelings expressed about the experience of crossing the plains and mountains and done with eloquent writing. The illustrations are nice, but I wish there had been been more. The author was an artist with a brush as well as with words.
